Meet Homes for the North
When 18 of the largest housing associations in the north of England came together to look at ways to influence policy and solve the housing crisis, Homes for the North was born.
Almost three years on from our initial launch in Parliament, we’ve come a long way.
Our founding commitment to address the shortage of affordable homes in the north is now supported by significant new research, which we commission and share with policy and decision makers to raise awareness and influence action.
Our members, who already own and manage some 500,000 homes in the north, are swelling that number by building at least 21,000 new homes over the next three years.
Our work and investment help create stable, sustainable communities which not only impacts on local economic growth but adds around £2.5bn a year to the northern economy.
But our work isn’t just about building homes, it’s about building better lives for the people who live in them too. That’s why, as a group we’ve invested more than £35m in our communities, money that has helped 9,000 people into work and training; helped tackle fuel poverty and hunger and upskilled, empowered and improved the resilience of local residents.
